Have fun at your child’s next birthday with Greg, Anthony, Murray and Jeff – The Wiggles! Even though they won’t actually be there, many of their fun activities can. Loved by all young children, The Wiggles would make a great theme party for boys and girls.
Three characters in the show have their own special segments: Where’s Jeff?, Music with Murray, and Anthony’s Workshop. You can follow them for the activities portion of your party.
Where’s Jeff? – In almost every episode, Jeff is sleeping somewhere and his friends have to find him. Have the birthday boy or girl find a place to sleep somewhere in the vicinity of the party guests. Then, have the guests ask questions until they can guess “Where’s (fill in child’s name)?”
Music with Murray – Have a bunch of toy instruments available for the guests to have a concert with. You could also lead them in a sing along. If you know someone who plays guitar, violin, or any other instrument, you can always invite them so the guests can enjoy live entertainment.
Anthony’s Workshop – This segment is always some kind of craft project. Pick a simple craft to do and allow all the guests to make at least one project.
Secondary characters on the show are Wags the Dog, Captain Feathersword, Henry the Octopus and Dorothy the Dinosaur. This allows for an even wider range of party games, from “Pin the Arm on Henry” to sword fights with feathers.
Sing-a-longs in a Wiggles theme party are simple. Just pop in a tape and watch the kids get up and move. Many of the songs are simple and repetitive, so even if the guests have never seen the Wiggles before, they will catch on quickly.
Many party stores and online retailers have Wiggles piñatas, too. Once the piñata has been broken, choosing from all the prizes inside can be a fun way to fill up those Wiggles goodie bags
Food at a Wiggle party is easy – just follow some of their songs! “Fruit Salad – Yummy, Yummy”, when followed, will make a terrific (and healthy” snack. “Hot Potato, Hot Potato” can stand for some delicious French fries! Buy some plain sugar cookies, icing and sprinkles in red, blue, yellow and purple, and the guests can have fun making their own Wiggles cookies. You can also “Gulp, Gulp – Drink some water” if you’d rather not have sodas. Of course, Anthony is a big eater and practically will eat anything, so a wide variety of foods is perfectly thematic.
To wrap up the party before the guests leave, why not watch a popular Wiggles episode? Or have a dance with a Wiggles CD? You can have them sit in a circle and read them a fun Wiggles story, too.
Party supplies of all kinds can be found with the Wiggles theme. Plates, cups, decorations, napkins, birthday banners, balloons, invitations and thank you notes can be purchase at a party supply store near you or online. (Tip: when ordering online, leave plenty of time for shipping!)
