Strawberry Shortcake is a cartoon that many moms grew up with. However, the character is making a big comeback and is a favorite of a whole new generation of little girls. With lots of books and movies, stickers and games, Strawberry Shortcake is a great theme for your child’s next birthday party. With both male and female characters, this theme would be appropriate for both girls and boys.
To start out your Strawberry Shortcake party, why not go outside and give everyone a green thumb? Have some sand pails, potting soil and a whole bunch of strawberry plant starts. The kids will have a grand old time making their own planter that may someday provide them with yummy strawberries.
After all hands have been cleaned up, you can move to some games. Change “Pin the tail on the donkey” to “Pin the tail on Pupcake”, which is Strawberry’s cute spotted dog. You can also find songs from the new Strawberry Shortcake movies on CD and play them during a fun game of “Musical Chairs”. Other popular games you could change to fit a Strawberry Shortcake theme are “Pie, Pie, Cake” for “Duck, Duck, Goose”, “Orange Blossom (or any other character) Says” for “Simon Says”, and “Hot Custard” for “Hot Potato” (just pass around a stuffed toy cat).
If it is a hot day, you can fill a large kiddie pool with water and play “Bob for Strawberries”, too. Since they are so small, you can put in a large container and give the kids several turns.
Many online retailers sell Strawberry Shortcake crafts, such as making hats. If you are looking for something a little easier, give all the guests their favorite color construction paper, crayons, markers, and stickers with strawberries or Strawberry Shortcake illustrations on them. Have the draw a scene on the paper, then cover the creation with contact paper. This can be used as a placemat or framed as wall art.
The food at a Strawberry Shortcake party can be yummy and fun. Take some heavy whipping cream and have the guest whip it until it is nice and fluffy. Add some strawberries and a piece of angel food cake and they have a yummy treat. You can decorate plain sugar cookies with icings several shades of pink and red, too. Cookies and cakes of any kind, along with berries and other fruits will all fit into a Strawberry Shortcake menu!
To end the party, you can purchase a pull string Strawberry Shortcake piñata. The prizes you put inside can be the party favors that the guests take home.
The Strawberry Shortcake theme is easy to find in many party outlet stores. You will be able to find plates, cups, napkins, decorations, invitations and thank you notes with a Strawberry Shortcake design. If you have trouble located the paper products you want locally, go to your computer and look at the many quality party stores that are located online. (Tip: when ordering online, leave plenty of time for shipping!)
