Scrooby Dooby Doo!

With the brand new Scooby Doo cartoons and movies, which have been created in the last several years, the Scooby Doo franchise has gotten a renewed life for a whole new generation of kids. Solving mysteries through creative thinking skills is a great way to get kids to use their imaginations. So, why don’t you make Scooby Doo the focus of your next child’s birthday party? Since there is a whole gang in the cartoon, including Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby, this theme is appropriate for both boys and girls.

Start out your party mixing up “Scooby Snacks”! They need to be baked, so getting the batter prepared at the beginning will allow them to cook while you are doing the games and crafts portion of your party. The recipe used for “Scooby Snacks” can be found online and is easy enough for the youngest of children to make. (But grown-ups should do the baking!)

Now you can move to the games. Freeze tag is an appropriate game, as the gang is constantly being pursued by some scary monster or ghost. Have the guests pick their favorite “bad guy” from a Scooby episode and when they are it, that is the monster or ghost they will be.

Next, grab several rolls of toilet paper or white streamers and split the guests into teams of two. One will the mummy wrapper, one will be the future mummy! The fastest team to wrap their mummy with all the toilet paper or streamers wins! Pull out more toilet paper and streamers (or reuse) and let the mummy wrapper and mummy switch places.

As a final game, you can purchase a Scooby Doo piñata and fill it with little toys and candy or stickers and Scooby Doo fruit snacks. Look for mini magnifying glasses or pairs of “mystery message pens” to go with your theme! The prizes you put inside can be the party favors that the guests take home.

If you want to do a simple craft at your party, grab some Tootsie Roll suckers, tissues, black markers and white yarn. You can cover the suckers with the tissues, tie them on and draw a scary face on them! Now you have a ghost treat for later.

Food at a Scooby Doo party can be anything you want. Scooby and Shaggy are never picky about what they eat, so you can serve pizza, burgers, hot dogs, cookies, cake, chips, ice cream, milk, soda and practically anything else that can be put in the mouth! The “Scooby Snacks” should be ready, too!

To end the party and calm the guests down to be picked up, you can always show one of the many Scooby Doo episodes on video and DVD. Choose from the older Scooby episodes, the classic movies and the brand new episodes! You can also spread simple Scooby Doo puzzles on the floor or read a Scooby Doo book. When it is nice outside, you can offer bubble solution in a Scooby Doo container for blowing outside until parents arrive.

The Scooby Doo theme is easy to find in many party outlet stores. You will be able to find plates, cups, napkins, decorations, invitations and thank you notes with a Scooby Doo design. If you have trouble locating the paper products you want locally, go to your computer and look at the many quality party stores that are located online. (Tip: when ordering online, leave plenty of time for shipping!)
