Candy Land has become much more than just a board game for youngsters. You can now find the Candy Land computer game and “Candy Land: The Great Lollipop Adventure” on DVD. Kids of all ages can enjoy following Jib, a little gingerbread boy, on all his many quests in the land of Candy Land! With a wide variety of characters, this thematic birthday party for your child would be enjoyed by both girls and boys.
To start the party, line your walkway to your house with many colored blocks. Continue the block colors to wherever the party is being held, whether it is in the back yard or in your living room. You can even make large cards to go along with your “game” on poster board, and the guests can’t come in until they gotten the right color!
Next, you can play some standard party games with a Candy Land twist. Some games you can try are:
- "Lollipop, lollipop, licorice” instead of “Duck, duck, goose”
- “King Kandy Says” instead of “Simon Says”
- “Queen Frostine May I?” instead of “Mother May I?”
- “Pin the Hat on Lord Licorice” instead of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey”
After some active play, the guests can come in for some quiet playtime. Purchase or borrow enough Candy Land game boards for everyone to play! There is even a new “Dora the Explorer” version and a DVD version of the game that the guests might enjoy. Have everyone play until all make it to Candy Castle, that way they have all won!
Before serving the food at the party, you can actually have the guests help with a portion of the snacks! Have plain gingerbread cookies and bunches of icing, decorative candies and raisins available and allow everyone to create their own treat. These gingerbread boys or girls can then be wrapped to take home or eaten at the party.
Food at a Candy Land party will definitely be sweet. With gingerbread, candy canes, gumdrops, peanuts and peanut brittle, lollipops, ice cream, and all different kinds of candy included in the game, it will be perfect for those kids with an extreme sweet tooth. Make sure to add some healthy choices to the mix, like apples, bananas and strawberries or carrot and celery sticks.
To end the party, why not allow the guests to sit back and enjoy the movie “The Great Lollipop Adventure”. With several sing along songs in the special features, you can have the guests singing and dancing in no time!
Although paper products for a Candy Land party are not currently available, you can make solid colors work for this theme. Focus on candy canes and make all the decorations red and white. Focus on lollipops and you can have a rainbow of paper goods. You can also find stickers with Candy Land characters on them, so you can make your own decorations and paper goods that follow your theme! (Tip: when purchasing online, leave plenty of time for shipping!)
