Mermaidia

Some of the biggest things to hit DVD lately are the computer animated cartoons for children. When it comes to computer generated material, little girls everywhere just adore the Barbie series of movies. One of the most recent additions to this series is the “Mermaidia” movie, which is a continuation for the “Fairytopia” story. So, why not set your little girl’s next party to have this fun theme?

There are lots of games and activities that you can provide when your party theme is “Mermaidia”. To start out the party, have the guests decide whether they want to be a fairy or a mermaid. Then, have craft materials available for everyone to make their own wings or tail. (Wings can be made with poster board and elastic, while a tail can be made from a large garbage bag.) You can always make it a dress up party to begin with and have everyone come in a costume, instead.

Next, you could hide the “immunity berry” somewhere in your yard. Have a treasure hunt for it. Make maps or provide a bunch of riddles that will take the guests all over the place to find it. Along the way they can meet Delphene the oracle, go through the depths of despair, find the mirror of the mist, and dodge through the hot geysers!

After the “immunity berry” is safe, you can have the guests fill the sky with magic bubbles. Give everyone their own bottle of bubble solution and they can have a lot of fun.

Other common party games that you can modify to fit this them are:

  • “Mermaid, Mermaid, Fairy” for “Duck, Duck, Goose”.
  • “The Enchantress Says” for “Simon Says”.
  • “Pin the Tail on the Mermaid” for “Pin the Tail on the Donkey”.

Food at a “Mermaidia” party can be fun. Why not offer the guests various types of lettuce leaves and call them “magic seaweed”? You can also serve any kind of “magic berries”, like strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Last, invite all the guests up to the Merfairy’s house for a tea party with sandwiches, cookies, cakes, pie and warm or cool drinks.

The “Mermaidia” theme is easy to find in many party outlet stores. You will be able to find plates, cups, napkins, decorations, invitations and thank you notes with a “Mermaidia” design. If you have trouble locating the paper products you want locally, go to your computer and look at the many quality party stores that are located online. (Tip: when ordering online, leave plenty of time for shipping!)

When the guests are preparing to go home, why not do some “Crest of Courage” tattoos on their upper arms? Using washable face paints, this will be a fun momento of the party. (And it will wash off during their next bath!) If the party is long enough, you can always have the guests sit down to a Barbie movie marathon and show “Fairytopia” and “Mermaidia” one after the other.
