Fairytopia

Little girls everywhere are very excited about the computer animated Barbie movies that are now available. With classic tales like “The Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake” made into movie form, classical music and a variation of the tales are being shown to a whole new generation of kids. One recent addition to the Barbie series of movies is the original tale of “Fairytopia”. So, why not make your little girl’s next party have this fun theme?

There are lots of games and activities that you can provide when your party theme is “Fairytopia”. The outline of a butterfly is a very big symbol in the movie, so why not do a lot of fun activities using that shape?

First, you can give all the guests a set of wings. Many costumes come with beautiful, glittery wings. If you don’t wish to spend that kind of money, simply make the wings yourself out of poster board and glitter. You can use safety pins or some sort of elastic to hold them on once they’ve been made.

After their wings have been given, the guests can all make their very own “butterfly” necklace. Using just a border shaped like a butterfly, place that border on a piece of clear contact paper. Now, allow the guests to stick many different colors of tissue paper within the border. Once the shape is filled in, cover with a second piece of contact paper and cut out. Add a piece of yarn and everyone will have their very own fairy necklace.

If you still want to be crafty, there are many websites with the instructions for a clothes pin butterfly. These cute craft projects only take a few items to make: tissue paper, spring clothes pins, pipe cleaners, glue, decorative dot stickers (optional), googly eyes (optional) and markers. Once created, these cute insects could make a great momento of a fun party.

Common party games that you can modify to fit this them are:

  • “Mermaid, Mermaid, Fairy” for “Duck, Duck, Goose”.
  • “The Enchantress Says” for “Simon Says”.
  • “Pin the Wings on the Fairy” for “Pin the Tail on the Donkey”.

Food at a “Fairytopia” party can be anything you want it to be. Have the kids use frosting to decorate butterfly shaped cookies! You can also have cakes, tea, sandwiches, and other finger foods and call it a “Fairy Tea Party”. If you want to focus on the natural aspect of “Fairytopia”, make everything you offer come from plants, like apples, berries, carrots, cucumbers and other various fruits and veggies.

The “Fairytopia” theme is easy to find in many party outlet stores. You will be able to find plates, cups, napkins, decorations, invitations and thank you notes with a “Fairytopia” design. If you have trouble locating the paper products you want locally, go to your computer and look at the many quality party stores that are located online. (Tip: when ordering online, leave plenty of time for shipping!)

If you still have time at the end of your party, allow the guests to sit down, relax and enjoy the movie “Fairytopia”. Make some popcorn and it will be like a party within a party!
